Homer-Center to hold preschool/kindergarten registrations in March

The Homer-Center School District is accepting registration for preschool children ages 3, 4 or 5. Rainbow Room registration will be held on March 4 from 11 a.m. to noon.

The Rainbow Room schedule will then be every Wednesday and Friday from 10:45 a.m. to noon beginning on March 5 and ending May 2. Children must live in the Homer-Center School District.

Preschool-age children must have proof of all immunizations and be potty trained. For more information, call the district at (724) 479-8206 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday to register.

HOMER CITY — Homer-Center Elementary School will conduct kindergarten registration for the 2014-15 school year between 8:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. on March 5 in the Elementary Large Group Instruction Room. Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31 to start kindergarten.

Anyone with a child who is eligible should contact the school at (724) 479-9077 to receive enrollment forms prior to registration. The information can also be downloaded at www.homer center.org. Those who choose to download the forms must send an email to ethurston@homercenter. org with the child’s name, parents’ names, address, phone number and birthday.

Children must accompany their parents so that speech and pre-kindergarten screenings may be conducted. The following information is required: completed registration papers; official copy of birth certificate; health and immunization records; and proof of residency, which may be, but is not limited to, a driver’s license, automobile registration, insurance card, current utility bill or tax statement.

Parents are asked to comply with the following registration times. Students whose last name begins with A-C, 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.; D-J, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; K-R, noon to 1:30 p.m.; S-Z, 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.

The following immunizations are required: four doses of diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus; three or more doses of trivalent oral polio vaccine; three doses of hepatitis B; two doses of measles, rubella and mumps vaccine; and two doses of varicella vaccine or written proof of chicken pox disease.
