Homer-Center held up its end of the bargain, securing at least a share of the Heritage Conference championship by rolling past Northern Cambria, 87-43, in a boys’ basketball game Wednesday night at the HomerDome.

Should Blairsville lose to Marion Center at home on Friday, Homer-Center will win the conference title outright. If the Bobcats win, the teams will be co-champions.

Blairsville defeated Ligonier Valley, 74-25, on the road Wednesday night. No details were reported.

Homer-Center shot an eye-popping 64.8 percent (35 of 54) from the field and made 8 of 12 3-pointers. The Wildcats outscored Northern Cambria 32-11 in the third quarter.

“We came out really on fire in the third quarter,” Homer-Center coach Bob Rado said. “We were just playing on all cylinders and passing the ball well.”

Joe Capitosti scored 27 points and Darren Carr had 26 points, including four 3-pointers, and added seven steals and five rebounds to lead the Wildcats. They were among the six players honored on Senior Night.

“This is one of the nicest groups of guys I’ve ever worked with,” Rado said.

Seth Bearer scored 13 points to lead Northern Cambria. Ben Strollo made four 3-pointers and scored 12 points.

Homer-Center concluded its regular season at 20-2 overall and 15-1 in the Heritage Conference. The Wildcats are the No. 3 seed in the District 6 Class A playoffs, and will face No. 6 Claysburg-Kimmel next week at a site, date and time to be determined.

Northern Cambria (3-16, 3-12) plays host to Portage today.

PURCHASE LINE 45, HARMONY 39: Taylor Antisdel gave host Purchase Line the victory at the foul line in a non-conference game.

The senior guard made 6 of 6 free throws in the final 2:18, breaking a 39-39 tie and putting the game away for the Red Dragons.

“He’s my best foul shooter,” Purchase Line coach Steve Woodrow said.

Antisdel made 7 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter. He finished 13 of 18 from the line for the game and scored a game-high 23 points.

Logan Sral scored 22 points to lead the Owls.

Purchase Line (7-12) plays at Ligonier Valley on Friday. Harmony (1-20) welcomes Glendale this evening.

MARION CENTER 67, UNITED 41: Todd Fetsko’s 27 points highlighted Senior Night as host Marion Center eased by United in a Heritage Conference game.

The 6-foot-5 senior made 11 of 16 free throws in addition to his eight buckets in the low post.

Senior Jake Bothell and junior Hunter Stiteler added 13 points for the Stingers, and another senior, Tim Betts, scored 10.

Weylon McGeary and Mike Gill each scored 12 points to lead United.

Marion Center (15-6, 12-3) is the last team standing in the way of Blairsville and a split Heritage Conference title between the Bobcats and Homer-Center. The Stingers travel to Blairsville on Friday.

United (7-13, 5-10) plays host to Penns Manor on Friday.

SALTSBURG 88, PENNS MANOR 54: Playoff-bound Saltsburg pounded Penns Manor in a Heritage Conference game in Kenwood. Ian Satler poured in a game-high 26 points, Steve Richards added 18 points behind 6-for-6 free throw shooting, and Nick Porter scored 15 points for the Trojans.

J.T. Horwat and Gavin Grimaldi led the Comets with 14 points each.

Both teams play Friday. Saltsburg (9-12, 7-8) plays host to Northern Cambria, and Penns Manor (1-19, 1-13) visits United.
