The director of the business promotion organization representing downtown Indiana merchants has submitted a resignation notice effective at the end of the month.
Jess Robertson-Bowman, the main street manager for Downtown Indiana Inc. since October 2011, told the organization’s board members in a letter Tuesday that she has accepted another job and will finish work in the DI office on March 1.
Robertson-Bowman, of Washington Street, Indiana, didn’t give details of the new opportunity but said it would allow her to be better able to financially support her family.
Robertson-Bowman called her experience with the agency “challenging and rewarding,” and acknowledged that her resignation “comes at a difficult time in the organization.”
Neither Robertson-Bowman nor leaders of the Downtown Indiana board could be reached for comment this morning.
Tim McQuaide, owner of The Coney Island tavern and restaurant, was named president of the Downtown Indiana board of directors in January. The board is composed of owners and executives of the downtown retail and service sector.
