Swiss steak dinner
HOMER CITY — Homer City United Methodist Church, Main and Church streets, Homer City, will hold a Swiss steak dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
The dinner includes mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, coleslaw, a beverage and dessert.
The cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children ages 5 to 12 and free to children 4 and younger.

Prom gown sale
KITTANNING — A prom gown sale will be held from noon to 5 p.m. March 1 and 2 at the Whitesburg United Methodist Church, Route 422, Kittanning.
Prom gowns and jewelry will be available. Prom gowns are $50 each. Some still have tags showing prices of $300. The event is a fundraiser for a new ministry, The Celebration of Life, www.tcolife.org.
Whitesburg UMC has private dressing rooms and will be staffed with TCOL volunteers. Light refreshments will be offered to benefit the church and TCOL ministries.

Pancake and sausage dinner
HOMER CITY — The annual Shrove Tuesday pancake and sausage dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. March 4 at Hope Lutheran Church, 35 Ridge Ave., Homer City.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for ages 5 and younger. All proceeds go to ELCA Men in Mission. Dine in or carry out. For tickets, call the church office at (724) 479-9431.
SPRING CHURCH — The Spring Church Lutheran Church spring session of Faith Friends in kindergarten through sixth grade will begin March 4 and continue each Tuesday evening through April 8. Each session begins at 5 p.m. with a light supper followed by a Bible story and craft. Evening sessions will conclude at 6:30 p.m.
If school is canceled during the day due to weather, Faith Friends will be canceled as well. The theme is “Trust in God.”

Ladies Day Out Tea
FIVE POINTS — Women Growing in Faith will be hosting a Ladies Day Out Tea, with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. on March 29, at Harmony Grove Lutheran Church, 6584 Five Points Road, Five Points.
Michele Huey, writer of the weekly “God, Me and a Cup of Tea” column in The Indiana Gazette, will be the guest speaker with the topic “What Kind of Bag Are You?” Lunch will be provided and there will be door prizes. The cost is $15 per person.

Trip to the Holy Land
The Rev. Paul Morris is planning to lead a group trip to the Holy Land. The group will depart on Nov. 10 for a 10-day trip that includes visits to Galilee, Nazareth, the Mount of Olives, Jerusalem and the Garden Tomb.
The travel/study program has been arranged by Educational Opportunities, a Christian tour company whose main objective is to provide pastors and laity with affordable, first-class learning experiences in the land of the Bible. The tour will include sightseeing, daily devotions and informative lectures.

Catholic school applications
St. Bernard Regional Catholic School, 300 Clairvaux Drive, White Township, is accepting applications to register for the 2014-15 school year for 3-year-old preschool through eighth grade.
Tuition assistance is available for all grades, and beginning this year a Tuition Transfer Grant is also available for grades one through eight. This is a grant that will be offered to students transferring from a public, private, charter or home school.
