Blackleggs group to hold annual meeting
YOUNG TOWNSHIP — The Blackleggs Trout Nursery and Watershed Association will hold its annual meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Saltsburg Sportsman Club.
A free spaghetti dinner will be served.
The annual meeting will give the public and nursery members the opportunity to discuss issues. Memberships and donations will be accepted.
The nursery receives 15,000 trout from the state to raise and introduce into Blackleggs Creek and Young Township Lake for kids’ day. There is also a kids-only fishing area on the stream.
The group holds it regular meeting the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m..
To reach the club, turn right off Route 286 West at the township building and travel approximately one mile to the club on the right.

KSTU to host program for anglers at Elks
Eric Stroup, a noted fly-fisherman, fly-tier, guide, writer and author, will present “Nymph Fishing Techniques and Tactics” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at the Indiana Elks.
The program, presented by the Ken Sink Chapter of Trout Unlimited, is free and open to the public.
Turkey shoots on tap at East Run club
MARION CENTER — The East Run Sportsman’s Club will hold turkey shoots on four Sundays: March 23, March 30, April 6 and April 27.
Registration begins at noon, and the shoots begin at 12:20 p.m.

Indoor archery league posts weekly winners
CLYMER — Dave Templeton, Scott Douglas and Nichole Pavelchick topped the individual shooters, and Penetration Assassins took the team honors for the second week in a row in the eighth week of competition in the RC Indoor Archery Winter League.
Templeton and Douglas each recorded a 228 to tie atop the men’s shooters, and Lavelchick shot a 211 to top the women’s ranks.
The Penetration Assassins team of Douglas, Corey Jeffries, Mike Miller and Steve Thomas recorded a 1,040.5.
In the season standings, Jared Mason leads the way with a 1,906. He is followed by Ken Misko at 1,876 and Douglas at 1,866.
In the team standings, the Arrows-A-Blazin team of Jared Mason, Megan McCunn, Jason Thacker and Brian Thacker is first at 8,402.2. Penetration Assassins is second at 8,84.0, and the Death By Lethal Injection team of Ken Misko, Ryan Hickok, Greg Buterbaugh and Ray Hickok is third at 8,378.0.

Cowboy Action Shoots set to begin in April
Cowboy Action Shoots will be held at the Indiana County Bow and Club on April 27, May 18, June 22, July 27, Aug. 24, Sept. 28 and Oct. 12.
Registration will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by a mandatory safety meeting.
The entry fee is $15. Shooters under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent. No shooters under 12 are allowed. Single Action Shooting Society rules apply. Appropriate dress of the late 1800s is required.

Todd Bird Club to hold meeting this evening
ERNEST — The Todd Bird Club will meet at 7 p.m. today in the Blue Spruce Lodge at Blue Spruce County Park.
Pittsburgh native Geoff Malosh will present the photographs he took at some of the premier bird photography sites in North America: Churchill, Manitoba; Barnegat Lighthouse, N.J.; Fort De Soto Park, Fla,; and Galveston Island, Texas. Malosh, the editor of “Pennsylvania Birds,” the journal of the Pennsylvania Society for Ornithology, is known as one of the best photographers of birds in Pennsylvania.
Refreshments will be provided. The meeting is open to the public.
