Michael Tighe, of Indiana, has been named to the fall 2013 dean’s list at The University of Findlay. To earn this achievement, a student must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. The University of Findlay, south of Toledo, Ohio, enrolls approximately 3,600 full-time and part-time students.
Rebecca Plouse, a student at Indiana Area High School, has been accepted into the University of Alabama UA Early College program.
UA Early College students are high school students who earn college credit online, and are eligible for the UA Summer Residential/Honors Ready Experience. These students may earn up to 30 hours of college credit from the University of Alabama.
Brett Lomman, of Commodore, recently traveled to Pine Ridge, S.D., as part of an alternative spring break program through Marietta College.
Lomman, who is majoring in biochemistry, was one of 13 students who made the 20-hour drive from Marietta to help the Native American people of the Oglala Lakota community.
The students were in South Dakota from March 8 to 15.
Marietta College partners with RE-MEMBER, an organization that seeks to improve the quality of reservation life through relationships, shared resources and volunteer services. RE-MEMBER’s four volunteer projects are bunk beds for children, trailer skirting, outhouse construction and making homes livable.
