The Blackleggs Creek Watershed Association and Cooperative Trout Nursery is hosting a Wild Game Breakfast on the first day of trout season, April 12, at 4 a.m. and continuing all day. The event will be held at Blackleggs Memorial Park, Shrokman and Cribbs roads in Young Township.
Donations of wild game and breakfast foods, fruits, vegetables and drinks are being accepted now through the day of the event. Raw wild game donations should be labeled and frozen. This is a great way to get rid of last year’s harvest to make room for this year’s hunting season. For questions, contact Anne Daymut at anne@wpcamr. org or (724) 664-8893.
All food provided at this event is donated and will be shared with everyone. Most of the cooking will be done on-site and made to order. Preprepared dishes are welcome the day of the event. Preprepared wild game dishes will be entered into a contest for best wild game dish to be judged by event organizers and IUP culinary students.
Other events include fishing, socializing and a 50/50 raffle. Primitive camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Alcoholic beverages and friendly pets are welcome.
