BANKS TOWNSHIP — An initial investigation by a state police fire marshal failed to determine the cause of a fire that left three people homeless Sunday in northern Indiana County.
A farmhouse at 199 Spotts Road, owned by Fred Williams, of Glen Campbell, was destroyed in a blaze first reported at 3:15 a.m. Sunday. Trooper Robert Southern, a fire investigator based at Punxsutawney, estimated the damage at $150,000.
Southern reported the fire started near the front of the house.
Fire officials reported the residents, Randy and Wendy Wright and their child, escaped the burning house. Randy Wright suffered a leg injury, said Glen Campbell Fire Chief Dave Lucas.
Six fire departments battled the fire early Sunday. The Glen Campbell department responded again at 10:53 Sunday morning and 6:23 Monday morning when the embers rekindled.
