Law enforcement agencies issue statistical reports

The following area law enforcement agencies have released the following statistical summaries of their activities in March.

Indiana County Sheriff’s Office

Deputies at the county sheriff’s office served 188.5 hours of court security, 714 hours of security for court facilities, and 120 hours of transportation of 51 inmates between county facilities last month, according to a report.

They screened 13,409 visitors to the county courthouse and 1,239 visitors to the Domestic Relations Section offices.

The deputies served 17 protection from abuse orders, 185 civil papers and 28 bench warrants. They assisted at one eviction and conducted 21 real estate sales and 15 personal property sales.

On Indiana County roads, deputies issued three traffic citations and one warning. They answered two complaints and responded four times to assist other law enforcement agencies.

The Sheriff’s office issued 261 firearm permit sand two dealer licenses in March, according to Sheriff Robert Fyock.

State police, Indiana

State police based in White Township responded to 940 calls for service in March, according to an activity report.

Troopers in the criminal investigations division received 156 reports of offenses, determined that seven were unfounded, cleared 103 cases and arrested 119 suspects.

On area highways, police investigated 75 accidents that resulted in one death and injuries to 11 people. Troopers attributed 11 accidents to driving under the influence.

Officers arrested 37 motorists on suspicion of DUI and issued 647 traffic citations and 470 warnings, including 25 for seat belt violations and one for a child safety seat violation.

Troopers assisted 46 motorists and conducted 220 commercial vehicle inspections.

State police, Kiski Valley

Troopers at the Kiski Valley station near Apollo, Armstrong County, received 610 calls for service last month, an activity report shows.

Patrol officers responded to 32 traffic accidents that resulted in 10 injuries, and reported four wrecks were related to driving under the influence.

They issued 487 citations and 57 warnings for traffic offenses, including 11 citations for seat belt violations.

Troopers arrested 10 motorists on suspicion of DUI.

The officers assisted 40 motorists and performed 11 commercial vehicle inspections.

State police criminal investigators received 50 reports of offenses, determined one was unfounded, cleared 36 cases and filed charges against 41 suspects, according to Sgt. Ryan Maher, the officer in charge of the station.
