A new general manager has been named to run the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Global Spectrum, operator of the 148,500-square-foot facility, made the announcement Wednesday.
Seth Benalt comes to the Kovalchick Complex from the Global Spectrum-managed University of South Florida Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla., where he was the assistant general manager and director of operations.
A 1999 USF alum, Benalt received his bachelor’s degree in business with a major in finance and management. Benalt has held various positions throughout his career at the Sun Dome as the facility’s event manager and box office manager.
He replaces David Farrar, who was named GM in November 2013. KCAC officials gave no reason for his departure.
“Consistent growth and success for the facility is a shared focus that we continue to achieve with Global Spectrum. We look forward to Seth leading the way with his expertise and experience,” Samuel Phillips, IUP’s assistant vice president for administration, said in a release.
“Seth continues to show tremendous leadership skills,” Doug Higgons, Global Spectrum regional vice president, said in a release. “We are confident that he will continue to lead our high level of customer service and bring to the region top-notch entertainment and attractions for the students, the alums and the region.”
IUP selected Global Spectrum to operate the KCAC in July 2009, prior to its opening in March 2011. Philadelphia-based Global Spectrum manages more than 120 arenas, stadiums and convention centers throughout the world.
