Letter to the Editor: The kindness of strangers appreciated
June 03, 2014 10:50 AM

On Saturday evening my friend Linda and I were coming home from Dayton with our horses. While traveling down Route 210 toward Elderton, something broke loose under our truck and our cable housing was torn in half, we lost our brakes, our fuel line was severed and we found ourselves stranded on a blind bend.

People immediately stopped to help. Some directed traffic, a woman with a horse trailer turned around and hauled our horses home for us and a friend came and got our trailer.

A state trooper from Kittanning came out and set up flares, the Elderton fire and EMS came and assisted until Hammill’s Towing arrived to get our truck.

I have been surrounded by so many negative people lately that it truly warmed my heart to know that there are still so many kind and wonderful people out there. I cannot thank you enough for all did for us that day. God bless you and know that you will be rewarded some day.

I try to do a random act of kindness every day, and Saturday I was definitely rewarded for it. Thank you everyone!
