S.W. Jack wins in 12 innings
With the bases loaded and his best bunter batting in the bottom of the 12th inning, longtime S.W. Jack coach Mitch Pacconi couldn’t pass up a chance to signal for a suicide squeeze.
Tyler Barker and Hunter Hite carried out the plan perfectly. Hite laid down a bunt and Barker scored on the play to lift the Black Sox to a 6-5 win over United NRG in an Indiana County Youth Legion baseball game Wednesday at Charlie Hogan Field.
“He’s been laying down beautiful bunts and I just felt the time was right,” Pacconi said. “We had a fast runner on third and I knew if he could lay anything half-decent down that we’d score, and he executed.”
Hite singled three times to pace S.W. Jack. Barker, Taylor Squiric and Kegan Ryan each singled twice.
Luke Thomas struck out seven, walked one and allowed two hits in five innings of relief to notch the win.
Nick Fabrizio and Kyle Baird each singled and doubled for United NRG.
S.W. Jack (6-2) plays host to Shoemaker Funeral Home on Friday, and United NRG travels to Walbeck Insurance on Monday.
