Nathan A. Solarz, the son of Mike and Anne Solarz, of Indiana, recently graduated magna cum laude from Pennsylvania State University.
Solarz earned a bachelor’s degree in PNG engineering within the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. He has been inducted into the Penn State chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Solarz has accepted an engineering position with Chevron Corp. in Houston.
Cadet 3rd Class Braden James Laverick was named to the spring dean’s list at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. Laverick is a sophomore, majoring in computer network security. He is the son of Randy and DeAnna Laverick and the brother of Alaina Laverick, of Clymer.
Brett Lomman of Commodore, has been named to the spring dean’s list at Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio.
Lomman, who is a graduate of Purchase Line High School, is majoring in biochemistry at Marietta.

Arley Henry, daughter of September Henry and Tim Johnson, both of Indiana, was recently honored as the recipient of several academic scholarships and awards from Carlow University, Pittsburgh.
She received the Women of Spirit Endowed Scholarship in 2010 and 2011; the Eunice Kendrick Gils Endowed Scholarship in 2013; and the Georgia Decker Future Nurse Educator award and the Leadership in Nursing Award for Excellence in Leadership and Service, both 2013-14.
She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau international honor society and the Student Promotion and Recruitment Team; president of Carlow University’s chapter of the Student Nurses’ Association of Pennsylvania; financial coordinator of the Strong Women Strong Girls; and choreographer of the Carlow Dance Division.
As an undergraduate, Henry participated in service projects for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Operation Safety Net, which she helped organize. Locally, she was the recipient of the Baskins Foundation Scholarship for four years.
After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career as a nurse at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital as an abdominal transplant nurse.
She is a 2010 graduate of Indiana Area Senior High School and the granddaughter of Marion Henry, of Indiana, and the late Ronald Henry and Lois and John Johnson.
