IUP FOOTBALL: Hawks pound Clarion

Indiana University of Pennsylvania rushed for 277 yards and gained 402 total yards to cruise past Clarion, 42-14, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference football game Saturday.

De’Antwan Williams rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns to power IUP’s ground game. Izzy Green added 86 rushing yards, and Erik Finklea had 57.

Starting quarterback Mike Box completed 7 of 12 pass attempts for 79 yards and a touchdown, a 30-yarder to Terrill Barnes.

Williams scored on runs of 4 and 20 yards in the first quarter, Barnes’ touchdown catch made it 21-7 in the second quarter, and safety Marco Pecora had a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown as IUP built a 28-7 halftime lead.

Box added a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, and Drew Carswell hauled in a 21-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Steve Franco in the fourth quarter to round out IUP’s scoring.

IUP held a 402-298 edge in total yards, and the Crimson Hawks went 4-for-4 on red-zone opportunities.
