Indiana Borough council has approved a permit for the second installment of the Northern Appalachian Folk Festival, which is to be held next fall on Philadelphia Street.
The first folk festival, which was held in September, was an outgrowth of an academic conference hosted by IUP. The two-day festival celebrated northern Appalachia through music, food and educational workshops.
Organizers said the festival was well received by the community, and they hope to build on its success.
However, missing from the first festival was an arts and crafts component. Organizers said they are looking to remedy that in the second go-around.
The 2014 festival will be held Sept. 5 and 6 on Philadelphia Street.
