APOLLO-RIDGE 39, DERRY 25: Apollo-Ridge handcuffed host Derry in the last three quarters of a low-scoring game to notch a win in a WPIAL non-section game.

The Vikings limited Derry to just six points in the second quarter to extend their slim first-quarter lead to eight points, 24-16.

Derry scored just nine points in the second half, including four in the third quarter.

The Vikings’ Julia Demeno led all scorers with 12 points.

Rachel Garris scored a team-high 11 points for Derry.

Derry (1-2) plays host to Uniontown on Thursday, and Apollo-Ridge (4-0) travels to Highlands on Tuesday.


CALVARY BAPTIST 52, MOUNT CARMEL CHRISTIAN 26: Kayla Chambers posted a triple-double to lead Calvary Baptist to a lopsided win over Mount Carmel Christian in a non-conference game in Mount Pleasant.

Chambers notched career highs of 26 points, 17 rebounds and 10 steals.

“She had a great game all around,” Calvary Baptist coach Mike Boole said. “She was rebounding, she was kicking the ball out, and she was running the court. She just did a great job tonight.”

Megan Plants chipped in 17 points for Calvary Baptist.

Calvary Baptist (3-1) travels to Calvary Christian on Friday.
