UNDATED (AP) — Arizona is No. 1 in The Associated Press college basketball poll for the fifth straight week, with Syracuse, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan State remaining the next four teams. Duke dropped to No. 16, the first time the Blue Devils are out of the Top 10 since December 2007.
In the women’s poll, Connecticut remained No. 1 and was followed by Notre Dame, Duke, Stanford and Louisville.
Blatter says Brazil is behind
GENEVA (AP) — FIFA President Sepp Blatter criticized Brazil’s slow preparations for the World Cup, calling the country further behind than any other host of the international event during his tenure.
Brazil has completed only six of the 12 World Cup stadiums despite a FIFA deadline to finish by the end of 2013.
Fans mourn soccer great
LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Tens of thousands turned out in tribute to Eusebio after the coffin of the Portuguese soccer great was put on public display and taken in a funeral cortege through the streets of Lisbon.
Traffic was halted on the capital’s main roads, and the cortege stopped for a ceremony at city hall.
