BLAIRSVILLE 70, PURCHASE LINE 54: Ryan Horchar scored a career-high 13 points, three other Blairsville players reached double figures in scoring, and the second-place Bobcats rolled over visiting Purchase Line in a Heritage Conference game.
The Bobcats (13-1, 10-0) have won seven straight games going into this evening’s makeup game at first-place Homer-Center (16-1, 11-0). The teams then meet again Tuesday at Blairsville.
Troy Williams scored 18 points to lead Blairsville. Rahdezz Henderson and Cameron Livingston added 12 points apiece.
Purchase Line’s Taylor Antisdel led all scorers with 21 points.
Purchase Line plays host to Northern Cambria on Wednesday.
HOMER-CENTER 64, UNITED 47: First-place Homer-Center jumped out to an 18-point halftime lead and improved to 16-1 overall and 11-0 in the conference with a win over host United in a Heritage Conference game.
Robert Della Penna scored 14 points to lead the Wildcats. Darren Carr chipped in 10 points.
United’s Mike Gill led all scorers with 15 points. Gill also collected four blocks and three steals.
Both teams play today. United (6-10) travels to Purchase Line, and Homer-Center plays host to Blairsville.
MARION CENTER 68, NORTHERN CAMBRIA 44: Marion Center’s Todd Fetsko went over 100 points for the week as Stingers beat host Northern Cambria in a Heritage Conference game.
Fetsko, a 6-foot-5 senior, opened the week by pouring in 43 points in a 79-75 win over DuBois and scored 26 in a 62-32 win over Ligonier Valley on Wednesday.
Tim Betts scored 10 points for Marion Center.
Seth Bearer scored 12 points to lead Northern Cambria. Zach Lee scored 11 points, and Joe Olish chipped in 10.
Both teams play Wednesday. Marion Center (12-6) plays host to Penns Manor, and Northern Cambria travels to Purchase Line.
LIGONIER VALLEY 69, PENNS MANOR 49: Collin Smith scored 17 points, Scott Fennell added 15, and Justin Hugo chipped in 12 as visiting Ligonier Valley rolled to a 20-point win over Penns Manor in a Heritage Conference game in Kenwood.
After a close first quarter, Ligonier Valley outscored the Comets 20-9 in the second quarter to take a 34-22.
J.T. Horwat led the Comets with 14 points. Gavin Grimaldi added 10.
Ligonier Valley (6-10, 5-6) visits United on Monday, and Penns Manor (1-16, 1-12) visits Marion Center on Wednesday.
WEST SHAMOKIN 58, DEER LAKES 32: West Shamokin’s Jake Hough and Austin Bussard each posted career highs in scoring, and the Wolves shut down Deer Lakes to notch their fifth straight win in a WPIAL Section 1-AA game in NuMine.
Hough scored 21 points and posed career highs of 12 rebounds and seven steals.
Bussard, who made his first start this year after missing most of the season with an injury, chipped in 17 points.
“They both came up big in a very big game for us,” West Shamokin coach Mike Nagy said. “This win sets up a showdown with us and Apollo-Ridge on Monday. The winner of that game is guaranteed at least second place, and if we win, we could go down to Summit Academy on Wednesday and play for a share of the section title.”
West Shamokin (14-2, 6-2) travels to Apollo-Ridge on Monday. Apollo-Ridge won the first meeting, 57-44, at West Shamokin on Jan. 10.
APOLLO-RIDGE 53, FORD CITY 42: Second-place Apollo-Ridge shut down host Ford City and used offensive bursts in the third and fourth quarters to score a win in a WPIAL Section 1-AA game.
Apollo-Ridge built a two-point halftime lead, 23-21, before outscoring Ford City 30-21 in the second half.
The Vikings’ Alex Smith led all scorers with 20 points. Freshman Duane Brown added 16 points.
Apollo-Ridge (15-3, 7-2) plays host to West Shamokin on Monday.
CALVARY BAPTIST 54, HUNTINGDON CHRISTIAN 37: Four Calvary Baptist players reached double figures in scoring as the Patriors beat host Huntingdon Christian in a non-conference game for their fifth straight win
Andy Knupp, Isaiah Sharp and Jerry Zhang scored 12 points apiece for Calvary Baptist. Joel Knupp posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, Tyler Chambers had eight points and six steals, and Andy Knupp dished out three assists.
Calvary Baptist (13-3) travels to Cambria County Christian on Monday.
