Indiana boys go 1-1 in track and field

NORTH HUNTINGTON — Indiana beat Greensburg Salem, 97-53, but fell to Norwin, 79-71, in a WPIAL Section 1-AAA boys’ track and field meet Wednesday.

The Indiana girls’ team fell to Greensburg Salem, 83-67, and Norwin, 108-42.

Darrious Carter, Corey Denlinger and Ryan Louther each won a pair of events to lead the Indiana boys (5-1). Carter won the triple jump and the 400, Denlinger placed first in the long jump and the javelin, and Louther took the 1,600 and the 3,200. Carter and Louther also ran alongside Adam Lenze and Cole Rosenberger on the winning 3,200 relay team. Jacob Kester won the pole vault, Chris McConnell took the high jump, and Rosenberger placed first in the 800.

Aaryn Gray won the javelin to pace the Indiana girls (2-4). Jess Stever took the high jump, and the 3,200 relay team, which consisted of Kacey Raible, Liz Yerger, Melanie Zolocsik and Abbey Myers, placed first.

Indiana travels to West Mifflin High School for the Tri-State Track Coaches Association Meet on Saturday.
