NEW YORK (AP) — Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby, Anaheim’s Ryan Getzlaf and Philadelphia’s Claude Giroux are finalists for the Hart Memorial Trophy given to the NHL’s MVP.

The winner will be announced June 24.

• VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — The Vancouver Canucks fired John Tortorella one year into the his long-term deal.

The fiery coach signed a five-year contract last summer after being dismissed by the New York Rangers, but went 36-35-11 and failed to reach the playoffs behind the Vancouver bench. Assistant coach Mike Sullivan was also fired.

• TORONTO (AP) — Longtime defenseman Tom Poti is retiring from hockey after 14 NHL seasons.

Poti had 69 goals and 258 assists in 824 regular-season games with the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, New York Islanders and Washington Capitals.
