GREENSBURG (AP) — A drinking water alert that affected 120,000 western Pennsylvania residents and numerous businesses has been lifted.

The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County announced Monday afternoon that a series of tests found no problems with the water after a damaged filter was replaced.

Residents in communities along the Kiski River in Westmoreland County have been advised to boil their water because the faulty filter might have allowed water tainted with dangerous algae to contaminate its entire supply.

The water advisory was issued Thursday night.
