Newspaper names new top editor
LANCASTER (AP) — Lancaster Newspapers Inc. has named a woman as its top editor for the first time.
In an online story Sunday, the company said Barbara Hough Roda, a veteran reporter, editor and columnist, will succeed Ernie Schreiber as executive editor.
In her new position, Roda will oversee all print and digital aspects of the newsroom.
Robert Krasne, the company’s publisher and president, said Roda is a respected leader who possesses “impeccable judgment and keen intuition.”
Lancaster Newspapers publishes the daily Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era and the Sunday News.
Schreiber, who Krasne called out of retirement a year ago to oversee the consolidation of the newsroom, returned to retirement earlier this month.
