Armstrong, Indiana and Westmoreland counties will be able to assist low- to moderate-income residents with needed home repairs, rent or utility payment assistance and emergency housing thanks to $423,000 in funds through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement fund, state Rep. Joseph Petrarca announced Monday.

PHARE funding was awarded to the Indiana County Office of Planning and Development for the 55-Plus Roof and Heating Systems Replacement Program in the amount of $100,000.

“For many residents in the 55th District, these funds will allow them to have a safe place they can truly call home,” Petrarca said in a news release. “PHARE funds can help residents in need with roof or heating system repairs in their home, emergency housing, or help with rent or utility payments.”
