West Shamokin exchange student

Minji, A foreign exchange student from South Korea, is visiting West Shamokin for the spring semester and will return in the fall. (Carlie Palmo/West Shamokin High School)

To participate in the exchange, Minji selected a city in America to visit. Her selection was Pittsburgh, and from there, her host family chose her as their guest.

Her old home was very populated, and she was raised in the city.

Now, in the United States, Minji resides in Dayton.

Minji has many talents, including the ability to speak Korean, English and Japanese; she can also play the guitar and piano. Her aspiration is to become a psychiatrist upon graduation from her home school in Korea.

She will be returning home to South Korea this summer, then coming back to West Shamokin for the fall. She still stays in touch with her family and friends and is excited to visit new places in Pennsylvania, such as Pittsburgh.

When it comes to academics, Minji thrives in mathematics here at West Shamokin, but she describes English class to be difficult for her. Minji hopes that in her time as a student here she can better her English skills.

Minji looks forward to all of America’s features, and we are thrilled to have her here at West Shamokin!
