The 18th annual Armstrong County Marching Band Festival is taking place on Tuesday. This festival will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held at West Shamokin High School’s football field.

Five outstanding halftime shows are to be performed by five amazing local bands: West Shamokin, Armstrong, Freeport, Apollo-Ridge and Leechburg.

Each show consists of three songs and a common theme guaranteed to keep you entertained. West Shamokin’s show is based on and includes songs from the legend herself, Lady Gaga. Armstrong’s show title is “Rockin’ Love,” containing songs from the sweet age of rock and roll. Freeport’s halftime show is called “Music of Toto,” who stormed the charts with the song “Africa,” which is in their song lineup.

Apollo-Ridge’s performance is “Music of Queen,” with Freddy Mercury’s greatest and well-known hits. Last, but certainly not least, Leechburg’s show title is “Speak Easy,” a reference to the secret bars made during the Prohibition Era of alcohol from 1920 to 1933.

After all five performances, every band participating in the festival will join on the field to play “Armed Forces” and “Sweet Caroline” as a grand finale.

Gates will open at 6:15 p.m., where tickets will be sold for $5 per person. There will be tickets on sale for chances to win raffle baskets and the concession stand will be open, so make sure to come hungry. We hope to see you at this year’s marching band festival.
