CLYMER -- It's that time of year again. The students at Calvary Baptist Academy have been hustling and bustling about, preparing for the Christmas season.

Tuesday evening the students from all grades presented a Christmas concert. The concert started off with the band and high school choirs performing a few Christmas selections.

This was followed by a dramatic presentation of the biblical Christmas story titled "Tell Me the Story of Jesus," a play written by Dan and Addy Forrest. The preparation for this play was worth all the effort because all those who attended enjoyed watching the young people perform. Interspersed throughout the play, the elementary choir sang several songs.

Many people enjoy coming to the Christmas concert, saying that it gets them focused on the real meaning of Christmas.

In addition to the concert, this year the students participated in the Teddy Bear Fund Drive for the Pediatric Center of Indiana Regional Medical Center. On Dec. 5, the academy collected donations from the students. The academy had the wonderful opportunity to present the donations when the radio station in Indiana invited student representatives from the school to present the check on air.

Another event going on at the academy is basketball. On Dec. 14, senior Diana Marshall achieved a goal that few basketball players even come close to. Diana scored her 1,000th career point.

She was asked how she felt when she achieved this goal and replied,

"Ever since I started playing basketball in sixth grade, my goal was 1,000 points. I feel extremely accomplished now that I have reached my goal. My next goal, however, is to break the girls' most scored points record."

She has the rest of the season to achieve that goal. Keep working hard, Diana. We're all proud of you.
