by DESTINY DAVID,Gazette Student News Reporter on October 19, 2012 11:00 AM

There are always exciting and educational events happening at the Indiana County Technology Center and here to report the news and keep you informed is a hardworking team of students. Eager and excited about writing this year, the reporters begin their first column by telling you a little bit about themselves.

Katelyn Downey is enrolled in the Health Occupations Technology program at the ICTC. She is a senior at United High School. Downey has been enrolled in Health Occupations for three years and recently obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.

She is a member of Skills USA at the ICTC and student council at United High School. During the summer, Downey worked as a home health aide.

Kaleigh Edgar is also enrolled in Health Occupations Technology at the ICTC where she is vice president of her class.

Through her hard work, Edgar obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant license and is a member of Skills USA. She was chosen as Kiwanis student of the month for January.

Edgar attends United High School, where she has been on the cheerleading squad for eight years and is captain. She was recently nominated as a princess on the United homecoming court. She is employed as a CNA at Beacon Ridge.

Chanel Sherry is a sophomore enrolled in Digital Media Technology (DMT) at the ICTC and Indiana Area Senior High School.

Some of Sherry's hobbies include writing scripts and screenplays, and paranormal investigating. She hopes to one day direct her own movie.

Abigail "Abby" Varner is a senior from Indiana Area Senior High School and is enrolled in the Health Occupations Technology program at the ICTC.

This is her third year in the program.

Thanks to her education at the ICTC, Varner obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant license as a junior in high school. Varner is involved in Key Club and the Fly Fishing Club and is a member of the Indiana girls' tennis team.

After school Varner works at Romeo's pizza and baby-sits. When she is not busy with school and work she enjoys hanging out with her friends.

Varner attributes her hard work to her parents Doug and Sharon Varner. After high school, Varner plans on attending Conemaugh School of Nursing to be a registered nurse. She would love to work in the emergency department of a hospital.

Finally, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Destiny David and I attend the ICTC for Digital Media Technology. I am a junior at Indiana Area Senior High School, where history is my favorite subject. In my spare time I enjoy listening to music and spending time with my friends and family. After high school I plan on attending post-secondary school, possibly The Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

We invite you, our readers to "Step to Tech" by watching our informative videos produced by our very own DMT students.
