Dorothy Idelle (Gifford) Stormer, 94, of Indiana, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020, while at Indiana Square.
The daughter of James and Bessie (Fuller) Gifford, she was born Jan. 20, 1926, in Knox Township, Jefferson County.
Dorothy was a graduate of Brookville High School, Class of 1945. She was employed by Sylvania Products in Brookville and Reynolds-ville. Later in life, she retired from Hills Department Store.
Dorothy was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the AARP #2581, Silver Sneakers at the YMCA and a was a 43-year member of the Tops Club #300. While in the Tops Club, she traveled to 16 Top International Conventions, with one being in Hawaii. In Dorothy’s spare time, she volunteered at St. Andrew’s Village and was a former AARP line dancer.
Surviving are her sons, Dennis Stormer, Roger Stormer and wife Linda, and Tom Stormer, all of Indiana; six grandsons, Travis, Luke and wife Courtney, Andy, Jim and wife Erin, Brian and wife Nicole, and Jonathan and wife Angie; eight great-grandchildren, Chase, Brooks, Jordan, Zoey, Abby, Keira, Kayleigh and Blair; and her two special cats, Snert and Bones.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; husband Leo R. Stormer, who died July 12, 2015, and whom she wed Oct. 2, 1946; a great-granddaughter, Sidney Pearl Stormer; brothers, Harold and James Gifford; and a sister, Irene Zimmerman.
As per Dorothy’s wishes, funeral arrangements will be private and under the direction of the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.
