Dorse E. “Daw” Spicher, 86, of Avon Park, Fla., formerly of Indiana, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, while a resident of Kenilworth Care and Rehabilitation Center of Sebring, Fla.
Mr. Spicher was born in Spangler on July 15, 1933, to parents Alvin C. “Pete” and Villa (Lloyd) Spicher.
He attended Green Township School in Commodore, graduating in 1951.
From there he joined the United States Army, Company D, 3rd Armored Division, and was stationed in Germany.
In 1990, he retired from FMC (Syntron) after working there 33 years in the machine shop. Shortly afterwards, he left Pennsylvania for Avon Park, Fla., where he started his own lawn care business.
Mr. Spicher had dedicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by son Roger C. Spicher; and is survived by son Dorse E. Spicher Jr. and wife Sue (Lazor) Spicher, of Indiana; grandchildren Kylee (Spicher) Dickinson and husband Ben Dickinson, of Pittsburgh; and Keldon Spicher of Indiana; son Christopher L. Spicher and wife Sandy (Hillebrand) Spicher, of Inwood, W.Va,; sisters: Flora Repine, of Cherry Tree; Shirley Fleming, of Indiana; Joyce Miller, of Indiana; and Pamela Watson, of Austin; and two brothers, Milford Spicher, of Enola, and Carl Spicher, of Pittsburgh.
Visitation was held Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Avon Park, Fla., where online condolences may be left at www.stephensonnelsonfh.com.
Family and friends also will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rairigh Funeral Home Ltd., in Hillsdale, where a 1 p.m. funeral service will immediately follow the visitation. Pastor Raymond Hill will officiate.
Mr. Spicher will be laid to rest in Thompson Cemetery in Hillsdale.
Military honors will be provided by U.S. Army members.
