Gloria J. (Rose) “Jean” Montgomery, 75, of Indiana, formerly of Young Township, passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, in Excela Health Latrobe Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born Nov. 27, 1943, in Greensburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Violet (McWilliams) Rose. Jean lived most of her life in Young Township.
She was employed as a waitress for Valley Diary, Indiana, for 17 years until her retirement in 2002.
Jean enjoyed playing cards. She held a weekly card game for all her friends. Jean loved going on casino trips, crocheting, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Calvin C. Montgomery, Feb. 21, 2000; grandson John Starrett; brother Bill Rose; sister-in-law Carol Rose; and a significant other John Kelly.
Jean is survived by her children: Sue (Skip) Stanton, of Delmont; Thomas Leonard, of Greensburg; William (Sarah Starrett) Leonard, of Murrysville; Barbara (John) Bruzda, of Conemaugh Township; JoAnn (David) Stumpf, of New Kensington; Daniel (Meredith) Heckman, of Eudora, Kan.; Joseph (Brenda) Heckman, of Clarksburg; 23 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings Melvin (Hazel) Rose, of Ohio; Charlene Krofek, of West Newton; Dale Rose, of Export; Howard (Becky) Rose, of New Castle; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Curran Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg, with additional viewing Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Services will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Lee Rupert officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are strongly suggested by Jean to be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society Western Region, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
