John H. Fleming, 87, of Indiana, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, at St. Andrew’s Village, surrounded by his loving family.
A son of the late Eugene T. and Jean Clark Fleming, he was born June 3, 1932, in Indiana.
Mr. Fleming was a graduate of Indiana High School. He owned Fleming’s Gas Station on Route 286 in Indiana for over 60 years. Mr. Fleming was a member of the Crete Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. He was also a member of F&AM 313. He loved all animals, especially cats and dogs, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He owned a big block modified and raced it at tracks in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. Mr. Fleming was a Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joan McCracken Fleming, of Indiana; two children: Dan Fleming and wife Lynn, of Buford, Ga.; and Pamela Bokash and husband John, of Indian Land, S.C.; two sisters: Lois Risinger and husband Ken, of Clarksburg; and Beth Wilcox and husband Michal, of Cochranton; four grandchildren: Jen LaForce and husband Glenn, of Johns Creek, Ga.; Brent Fleming and wife Megan, of Louisville, Ky.; Lauren Alfano and husband Rob, of Indian Land, S.C.; and April Bokash, of Indian Land, S.C.; six great-grandchildren: Zachary, Emsley, Adley, Grady, Evan and Alice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Fleming; a sister, Betty Mowrey-Stott; an aunt, Clare Fleming; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Betty McCracken.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Robinson-Lytle Inc., where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Katie Ward Stear officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
