Kathryn E. “Kay” (Jacob) Barnhart, 96, of Blairsville, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the Keeper of the Flame, Blairsville.
The daughter of Earl H. Jacob Sr. and Mary E. (Ramaley) Jacob, she was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Wall, Allegheny County.
Mrs. Barnhart graduated from Blairsville High School, Class of 1941.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, where she was a deacon and member of the Mizpah Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Third Friday Sewing Club, First Saturday 500 Card Club, former member of Blairsville Grange No. 2012 and past president of the Pittsburgh China Club.
She enjoyed painting, especially porcelain, and loved to sew and gave sewing lessons at her home for many years.
Surviving are her son, Gary Barnhart and his wife, Carol, of Blairsville; daughter, Barbara Brown and her husband, Terry, of Blairsville; two granddaughters, Shelly Brown and Jill Richards and her husband Gregg; four great-grandchildren, Delaney Richards, Reid Davis, Jake Richards and Connor Davis; and a special cousin, Duilla Harkins, of Greensboro, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond E. “Pete” Barnhart, in 2013; granddaughter Julie Brown; and a brother, Earl Jacob Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Shoemaker Funeral Home Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Timothy R. Monroe will officiate.
Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
