Kenneth “Ken” J. Buterbaugh, 66, of Diamondville, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
The son of the late Harvey “Pete” and Evangeline “Sis” (Creek) Buterbaugh, he was born Feb. 17, 1951, in Purchase Line.
For more than 20 years Ken worked as a pipeman at Greenwich Collieries. Following his career in the deep coal mines, Ken was employed for a number of years by The Indiana Gazette as a rural vehicle carrier with his own delivery route.
Ken greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. An outdoorsman, his two favorite interests were hunting and fishing.
He was a member of the UMWA.
Ken married Joann E. (McClinsey) on Dec. 31, 1970.
He is survived by his wife of almost 47 years, Joann E. Buterbaugh, of Diamondville; his twin sons, Jim Buterbaugh and wife Heather, of Derry, and John Buterbaugh and wife Patricia, of Clymer; and his five grandchildren, Alexis, Mike, Abby, Joe and Gabby.
Also surviving are Ken’s two brothers, Bob Buterbaugh and wife Mary Ann, of Indiana, and Rick Buterbaugh and wife Arlene, of Purchase Line; his two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Buterbaugh, of Indiana, and Diane Buterbaugh, of Sagamore; and his lifelong friend, Bill Seibert, of Commodore.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers, Ed, Don and Denny Buterbaugh.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rairigh Funeral Home Ltd. in Hillsdale.
