Lawrence G. Zambotti, 68, of Marshall, Va., formerly of Coal Run, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020.
A 1969 graduate of Elders Ridge High School, Larry went to the University of Pittsburgh where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical and computer engineering in 1973. He also went on to receive his Master of Science degree in advanced technology, computer systems and optimization theory from the State University of New York-Binghamton in 1976.
Larry began what would become a successful career of over 25 years at IBM/Lockheed Martin/BAE systems with numerous awards and accolades, including Marketing Forum awards and multiple design and architecture awards. Larry was technical director and strategic planner for the Pathfinder mission to Mars and held an integral role in the Cassini mission to Saturn.
As the market changed, Larry reinvented himself later in life as an international entrepreneur with successful business ventures both in the United States and abroad. Among other dealings, Larry was the owner and president of T3 Space and Communications, a contracting and consulting firm for space, the Department of Defense and civil agencies. Larry enjoyed golfing and trips to his family’s fishing camp on the Allegheny River.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Nadine Harmon Zambotti, and his parents, Louis and Anna Mae Zambotti, of Shelocta.
He is survived by one brother, Louis (Kathi) Zambotti, of Shelocta; one sister, LuAnn (Steve) Fee, of Shelocta; a niece, Kristine (Matthew) Simon and children Emma, Joshua and Lucas, of Carlisle; nephew, Anthony (Sara) Zambotti and children Attilio and Aza, of Shelocta; and a niece, Tami (Dave) Bork, of Homer City.
Friends will be received at a Mass in Kent at a later date.
