Ruth P. Syster, 92, of Strongstown, formerly of New Jersey, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at Scenery Hill Manor, Indiana.
Born Nov. 8, 1925, in Buffington Township, she was a daughter of Wilbur Otis and Pleasant Goldie (Stephens) Syster.
Ruth was preceded in death by parents and her brothers, William and Dwight Syster.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Syster.
Ruth lived in Strongstown until she was 18 years old, moved in 1948 to North Plainfield, N.J., and returned in 2014 to Strongstown.
She was a caregiver for 69 years for a man with cerebral palsy and a woman who had a kidney transplant. She taught children at King’s Daughters Preschool Daycare Center for 20 years.
Ruth earned her degree in cosmetology, loved Broadway shows and was an avid reader. Always loyal to family and friends, she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
As per her wishes, there will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Pineland Cemetery, Strongstown, with Pastor Bob Westrick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
