Thomas C. Luther, 82, of New Florence, passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
Born July 25, 1937, he was the son of the late J. Ord and Areta C. (Cunningham) Luther. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis (Luther) Wagner and her brother, James Luther.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Billie Sue (Kinzey) Luther; children, Kelly Luther and J. Merritt, New Florence; and Eric Luther, New Florence; grandsons, Mitchel Luther and Mason Luther; siblings, Ivan “Bud” Luther and wife, Laurie (Rager), Armagh; Judy McMullen and husband John, Armagh; Denny Luther and wife Sandy (Youngblood), Tionesta; several nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law Mark “Wood Eye” Kinzey, New Florence, and his daughter, Hillary.
Tom was a tinkerer who was always fixing something. He enjoyed snowmobile, motorcycle, and quad riding along with Jeeping with his son and friends. Tom served in the National Guard, 103rd Armor, Johnstown, was employed by Dale Oxygen and was a retiree of Seward Generating Station. He also enjoyed his school bus children from his many years of driving for Lodestar.
Tom’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Conemaugh ICU, Dr. Evans and two special nurses, Gwen Dellett and Nicole Adams.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence.
Future inurnment will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
