Wilbur Dale Helman Jr., 76, of Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020, at his residence.
The son of Wilbur and Carrie (Moore) Helman Sr., he was born May 1, 1943, in Indiana.
Wilbur was a graduate of Marion Center Area High School and served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence as a jet mechanic. He had been employed as a coal miner for Emily Mines and a maintenance worker for the Regency Mall. Wilbur was a member of the Dixonville Moose, Clymer Slovak Club, Clymer American Legion and UMWA Local 1412. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially enjoyed gardening with his grandson, Travis. Wilbur will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
Surviving are his children, Carrie Gaston, Indiana; Wanda (Richard) Anderson, Clymer; and Helen (Bryan) Sheffar, Creekside; sisters, Dorothy Jean Caylor, Creekside; Martha Jane (William) Ward, Tanoma; Shirley (John) Zohoranacky, Transfer; Betty Darlene (Joe) Pavelko, Northern Cambria; and Linda (Boyd) Reinard, Indiana; grandchildren, Cody (Jess Weaver) Henry, Austin Henry, Branden Gaston, Travis Gaston, Brady Sheffar and Bryanna Sheffar; great-granddaughter, Anabelle Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sherry (Wolfe) Helman; brother-in-law, John Caylor; and a niece, Sharon Caylor.
Funeral arrangements will be private and under the direction of the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.
Interment in Sample Run Cemetery will be private.
