Letter to Editor 19

As a former educator, I thank the school board members who voted against closing Horace Mann.

Sometimes common sense prevails over so-called progress and size.

Small is often good. I attended a one room school and a small township high school in another county and received an excellent education.

Locally, our four children walked to Horace Mann and benefited from caring, dedicated teachers.

They enjoyed the playground and making lifelong friends with classmates.

Yes, make improvements, put in an elevator.

As for the cost?

I remember a bumper sticker: “If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.”
