Tips for Job Seekers

  • Conduct research before each interview:  Always take the time to understand the company, beyond just looking at the website.

  • Pay attention to details:  Anything from misspelling the interviewer's name in a post-interview thank you note, to coming in a few minutes late for an interview can cost you a job.

  • Use your alumni network:  Many school alumni networks have an up-to-date directory.  Use that list to find people who can help you find your next career.

  • Keep e-mails formal:  Your e-mail messages should be as clean and polished as a cover letter would be," she says.

  • Be truthful:  Exaggerating your experience will likely backfire. Employers are looking for trustworthy individuals and are unlikely to hire someone who they have a hunch isn't being totally truthful.

With the increase of social media and ever-changing technology wearing your best suit and tie is not enough. U.S. News & World Report put together a list of emerging trends, tips, and tactics to finding a new career.  Read more....
