IUP sophomore Duane Brown was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Offensive Athlete of the Week for the second straight week on Monday.
An IUP players has earned the honor four straight weeks.
Brown, an Apollo-Ridge High School graduate, caught four passes for 126 yards and accounted for the only two touchdowns in the Crimson Hawks’ 17-6 win over California in the 11th annual Coal Bowl on Saturday.
Both of Brown’s scores came on third-and-long plays, first burning a double-team for a 60-yarder in the third quarter to give IUP a 7-3 lead. The second came with four minutes to play in the fourth quarter, coming back to catch a pass on the sideline and breaking tackles for a 34-yard touchdown to give the Crimson Hawks a two-score lead.
Brown has 19 receptions for 485 yards (25.5 average) and nine touchdowns this season. His three rushing scores give him a PSAC-leading 12 in five games this year.
