IUP, unranked to start the season, checked in at No. 24 after beating the Northeast-10 Conference preseason favorite at Miller Stadium. The Crimson Hawks play at Millersville (1-0) on Saturday afternoon.

With many of the top teams earning wins on opening weekend, the first half of the poll remained the same as the preseason rankings. Valdosta State (Ga.) picked up 31 of 32 first-place votes to remain at No. 1. Ferris State (Mich.), Minnesota State and Notre Dame (Ohio) stayed second through fourth, respectively. Tarleton State (Texas) moved into the top five after starting the season at No. 7.

Slippery Rock and West Chester are other Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference teams in the top 25. The Rock fell back one spot to No. 11 and West Chester moved up three spots to No. 19.

Slippery Rock beat Wayne State (Mich.), 62-37, on Thursday, and West Chester held off Bentley (Mass.), 14-7, on Saturday.

California, which is listed among the teams to watch, beat St. Anselm (N.H.), 59-13 on Friday.
