Demetri Lieb. Penns Manor. #6

6-foot, 160 pounds. Sophomore. Running back/defensive back. Demetri Lieb sure does know how to make a debut. Lieb, a sophomore at Penns Manor, scored three touchdowns and intercepted three passes in the Comets’ season-opening 52-14 romp over Blairsville on Friday. Though he didn’t touch the ball a lot as a running back, Lieb made the most of his opportunities, rushing for 84 yards on only eight carries and scoring touchdowns on runs covering 14, 15 and 27 yards. Defensively, Lieb came up with the three big interceptions, including one in the end zone that thwarted a Blairsville drive.

BERLIN — Penns Manor did not attempt a pass and used a bevy of running backs to scratch out just enough offense to get past Berlin, 22-14, in a rain-soaked Heritage Conference-WestPAC crossover game Friday night.

NORTHERN CAMBRIA — Tommy Hamilton broke free and dashed down the visiting sideline all the way to the end zone late in the second quarter to pull Penns Manor within a score, with the Comets due to get the ball to begin the second half.

PURCHASE LINE — It took nearly four hours, six lead changes and six overtimes for Penns Manor coach Bill Packer to finally secure his 100th career coaching victory.
