SALTSBURG — Pending severe weather has prompted a half-hour earlier start time for tonight’s Saltsburg Trojans-Penns Manor Area Comets high school football game, as well as homecoming events scheduled in advance of the game.
Also, the game at Marion Center Area High School against Heritage Conference rival Northern Cambria was moved to 6 p.m.
“Due to the timing of potential inclement weather this evening,” Blairsville-Saltsburg School District posted on its website, “the homecoming parade will start at 5:30. The crowning will be at 6 and the football game will start at 6:30.”
The National Weather Service is forecasting possible showers or thunderstorms after 5 p.m. Accuweather is projecting thunderstorms around 7 p.m. for the Saltsburg area.
“Per Coach (Dave) Cindric, players are to report to the field at 4:45,” the Saltsburg Football Boosters posted on Facebook.
The district’s other high school football team, the Blairsville Bobcats, is at Purchase Line to take on the Dragons in that school’s homecoming game. As of mid-afternoon that game continued to have a 7 p.m. kickoff time.
