Thursday’s scheduled final game of the Indiana County Youth Legion semifinals between Punxsutawney and Kovacik Insurance was postponed due to field conditions in Blairsville.
The game has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. today at Blairsville, with the winner advancing to take on Brookville for the Indiana County championship and a berth in next week’s Western Regional tournament at Homer City. The best-of-three series is tied 1-1, with both games ending in 5-4 scores.
The schedule for the championship series has been altered as well. Instead of the best-of three series opening at top-seeded Brookville on Saturday afternoon, it will be played at the home of this evening’s winner. Then, the series shifts to Brookville on Sunday for a potential doubleheader that begins at 1 p.m., with a second game to follow, if necessary.
The Western Regional tournament is scheduled for July 20 to 24 at First Commonwealth Bank Field. S.W. Jack, which bowed out of the county playoffs against Brookville, is the tournament host. The Drillers are scheduled to play the Somerset County champion at 7 p.m. on the opening day.
The state tournament also is scheduled at Homer City beginning July 27. Homer City’s Walbeck Insurance in the host team.
