Gaven Palko limited visiting Northern Cambria to a pair of runs through five innings and Marion Center’s offense returned the favor with four runs in the bottom of the fifth as the Stingers wrapped up their regular-season schedule with a 9-3 victory over the Colts in a Heritage Conference baseball game Thursday.

Marion Center held a slim 3-2 advantage through four innings before increasing its advantage to five, 7-2, in the fifth and adding a pair of insurance runs in the sixth.

Four players logged multiple hits for the Stingers, who improved to 9-7 overall and 7-6 in conference play.

Landin Bennet went 2-for-2 with a double, Vinnie Fry had two singles and two RBIs, and Clayton Coble and Ty Ryen each singled twice. Palko added a triple.

For Northern Cambria, Richie Wiewiora and Mark Marino had a pair of hits apiece.

Palko struck out eight in the win, and Ryen was charged an unearned run in two innings of relief.

Northern Cambria dropped to 8-9 overall and 6-7 in the conference.

WEST SHAMOKIN 18, PURCHASE LINE 5: Jacob Allen provided more than enough offensive support for West Shamokin, driving in six runs and scoring three times, and the undefeated Wolves slugged eight extra-base hits to beat host Purchase Line in a Heritage Conference game that was shortened to five innings.

Allen finished 4-for-5 with a double and a home run to pace West Shamokin. Brendon Mondi went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, Ezeck Olinger singled, homered and drove in two runs, and Tristan Doverspike singled and tripled. Wyatt Miller added a single, a double and three RBIs, Justin Smulik singled and doubled, and Blake Fairman added a double.

For Purchase Line, Connor McCoy doubled.

Miller started and combined with three other Wolves to fire a three-hitter.

West Shamokin (13-0, 10-0 conference) travels to Blairsville today.

SOFTBALL

LIGONIER VALLEY 15, HOMER-CENTER 0: Jane Garver fired a one-hitter to lead Ligonier Valley past host Homer-Center in a Heritage Conference game that was shortened to five innings.

The South division champion Rams wrapped up their regular season with a 16-2 record and will play host to North winner Marion Center in the conference championship game Wednesday at Donaldson Field.

Bella Vargulish had a single, a double and three RBIs to lead Ligonier Valley. Taylor Bojtos tripled and drove in two runs, Belle Schueltz singled and doubled, and Kaylee Colt and Myrna Breegle had two hits apiece.

WEST SHAMOKIN 23, PURCHASE LINE 1: West Shamokin cruised past host Purchase Line in a Heritage Conference game that was shortened to four innings.

Sierra Patterson had a pair of triples among her three hits and drove in three runs for the Wolves, and Riley Prugh went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and three RBIs. Kaely Klonowski had a team-high five RBIs, Abby Oesterling doubled and drove in three runs, and Ally Schulteis added two RBIs.

West Shamokin (9-6, 8-3) visits Blairsville today.
