United has forfeited its high school football game against Ligonier Valley that was scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7.
The announcement was made Saturday on Ligonier Valley’s official Twitter page.
United, which began the season with 17 players on the roster, came out of Friday’s 36-6 loss to Blairsville with only 14 healthy players.
Ligonier Valley improves to 3-0 by default and will travel to Saltsburg on Sept. 13.
In September 2018, the Rams tied the then-record of 23 consecutive Heritage Conference victoies when Saltsburg forfeited their Week 4 match-up, citing safety concerns with only 16 players.
United is scheduled to play host to Penns Manor on Sept. 13. The Lions drop to 0-3 overall.
