Tristan Doverspike went 2-for-3 while driving in three runs and combined with Ezeck Olinger to fire a two-hitter, and undefeated West Shamokin claimed its 10th Heritage Conference baseball victory with a 5-0 win over visiting Marion Center on Tuesday.

West Shamokin took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before tacking on a pair of runs in each the third and fourth, capped by Doverspike’s two-out, two-run triple to center field.

After the Wolves secured the advantage, West Shamokin relied on Olinger’s arm to seal the victory.

Olinger, who retired the Stingers in order in each the third, fifth and sixth innings, dished out just a pair of walks and struck out three in five innings of hitless relief to earn the win. Doverspike started and struck out three over two innings.

Tyler Howells was charged three earned runs in a complete-game effort.

Jacob Allen added a single and a double for the Wolves.

Both teams play Thursday. West Shamokin (12-0, 10-0 conference) visits Purchase Line, and Marion Center (8-7, 6-6) welcomes Northern Cambria.

HOMER-CENTER 11, SALTSBURG 5: Homer-Center sent four of its 13 hits over the fence, including a pair of home runs by Canyon Rankin, and the Wildcats used a six-run fourth inning to hold off host Saltsburg in a Heritage Conference game.

Rankin, who finished with three hits and a team-high three RBIs, staked Homer-Center to an early lead with a two-run blast on the game’s second at-bat.

Saltsburg’s Dylan Cindric responded, hitting his first of two home runs to lead off the bottom of the inning.

Leading 2-1 entering the second, Homer-Center tacked on three runs before the Trojans scored once more to extend the score to 5-2, but the Wildcats pulled away to a nine-run, 11-2 lead in the fourth.

Jayka Saiani added three hits, including a home run, for the Wildcats. Nate Davis homered, walked four times and drove in two runs, Evann Keslar had a double and two RBIs, and Tyler Federinko and Jonathan Gearhart each singled twice.

For Saltsburg, Cindric finished 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and three RBIs, and Brady Yard clubbed a solo home run.

Davis earned the win with eight strikeouts over five innings.

Both teams play Thursday. Homer-Center (14-4, 9-4) plays host to Ligonier Valley, and Saltsburg travels to United.

BLAIRSVILLE 15, UNITED 5: CJ Ingmire batted 3-for-4 with a trio of RBIs and Blairsville scored the game’s first 12 runs to cruise to a Heritage Conference victory over visiting United in a game that was shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule.

Blairsville struck first in a six-run second inning in which three batters were hit by a pitch and the Bobcats drew four walks. United snapped a 12-0 shutout with all of its runs in the top of the fifth.

Hank Skirboll singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs for the Bobcats, Devin Burkhart had a double and two RBIs, and Brayde Furman scored three runs.

For United, John Henry went 2-for-3 with a double, Devin Slippy had two hits.

Andrew Baker earned the win with four strikeouts over four shutout innings.

Blairsville plays host to West Shamokin on Friday. United welcomes Penns Manor today.

PENNS MANOR 12, PURCHASE LINE 2: Trent Mason fired a complete-game two-hitter and Penns Manor took advantage of seven errors to win a Heritage Conference home game that was shortened to six innings.

Tommy Hamilton had a pair of hits and drove in two runs for Penns Manor, Kyle Detwiler had two RBIs.

For Purchase Line, Kyle Smith slugged a solo home run.

Mason struck out six and walked one.

Penns Manor travels to United today. Purchase Line plays host to West Shamokin on Thursday.

LATROBE 2, LIGONIER VALLEY 1: Ligonier Valley’s Michael Marinchak fell on the wrong end of a pitchers’ duel, serving up the game-winning hit on a two-out triple in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Rams lost a non-conference game on the road for their second loss of the season.

The Rams struck first in the opening inning as Sullivan Schueltz led off with a double — Ligonier Valley’s lone hit in the game. And after a lineout, John Caldwell plated Schueltz with a sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead.

Latrobe answered with a run in the bottom of the second.

Matt Henderson struck out five and issued a pair of walked in the complete-game one-hitter for Latrobe.

Marinchak had nine strikeouts and allowed seven hits over 6 2-3 innings.

Ligonier Valley (12-2, 9-1) visits Homer-Center on Thursday.

BLAIRSVILLE 16, PURCHASE LINE 7: Devin Burkhart, CJ Ingmire and Hank Skirboll had three base hits apiece, and Blairsville snapped a 7-all tie in the fourth inning to beat visiting Purchase Line in a Heritage Conference game that was played Monday.

Blairsville answered Purchase Line’s three-run first inning with seven runs in the bottom half to take a 7-3 lead. And after the Red Dragons plated four runs over the next two innings to forge the tie, the Bobcats responded with four runs in the fourth and five in the fifth.

Ingmire drove in four runs to pace the Bobcats. Burkhart went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, Skirboll went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Colby Staats singled, doubled and drove in three runs. Adam Ratkus added a single and a triple, and Kegan Stiles had two RBIs.

For Purchase Line, Connor McCoy singled, doubled and drove in four runs.

Six Blairsville pitchers played a part in the victory.

HIGHLANDS 9, INDIANA 3: Indiana let a close game slip away late in its regular-season finale at Highlands on Monday.

The Indians took a 3-2 lead with a pair of runs in the fifth inning, but Highlands reclaimed a two-run advantage, 4-3, with a pair of runs in the fifth and pulled away in a five-run sixth.

Lincoln Trusal went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and a walk for Indiana. AJ Ryan doubled and Austin Homer singled twice.

Homer started and struck out six without issuing a walk over 5 2-3 innings to take the loss.
